Basic fire safety training

Basic Fire Safety Training

Our basic fire safety training is the entry-level fire safety course. By booking your new team members onto this course you will ensure they gain the knowledge required to meet your legal obligations. These are laid out in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005  article 21 which, states:

Training

21.—(1) The responsible person must ensure that his employees are provided with adequate safety training—

(a)at the time when they are first employed; and

(b)on their being exposed to new or increased risks because of—

(i)their being transferred or given a change of responsibilities within the responsible person’s undertaking;

(ii)the introduction of new work equipment into, or a change respecting work equipment already in use within, the responsible person’s undertaking;

(iii)the introduction of new technology into the responsible person’s undertaking; or

(iv)the introduction of a new system of work into, or a change respecting a system of work already in use within, the responsible person’s undertaking

With a general trend towards the use of technology, many companies now offer  online courses, which once completed awards the student with a certificate.  However, you may be failing to fulfil your duty to train your staff as we discuss blog post – Does online training satisfy the RRO.

At West Yorkshire Fire Safety, we believe the best way to ensure your employees are sufficiently trained to respond safely in the event of a fire is through personally delivered,  bespoke training. That’s why we tailor our training to your fire plan. This allows the trainer to judge the knowledge level of the attendees and emphasise topics, according to their needs.

This course is the cornerstone of our other courses. Whilst it is available as a stand-alone session, it is also included within our Fire Evacuation and Fire Extinguisher training.
